Hypnosis is a state of mind which we have all experienced everyday of our lives.
Because we all experience hypnosis before and after waking, it is unusual to be un-hypnotisable. Generally speaking, hypnosis feels relaxing and sleep-inducing. Many clients return to the Centre after specific treatments in order to learn how to self-hypnotise in order to "switch off and relax.
Because hypnosis is a normal state of mind we can hear all that's going on around us (albeit distantly sometimes) we will test you for hypnosis so you will definitely know whether you have experienced trance. Once you are in this pleasant state, the therapist can give you unconscious simple suggestions that can help you make the changes you require.
You can be hypnotised lying or sitting down, whichever is most comfortable for you.
You can also be taught self-hypnosis for relaxation in pregnancy, giving birth, and for specific occasions such as job interviews and dental treatment.
Unwanted Habits
It is particularly effective for removing habits such as nail biting, bed-wetting, smoking etc.
Stage Nerves
Suggestions of ease can be given for one-off situations like board meetings, concerts, wedding nerves and exam nerves.
Self Esteem
Sometimes people ask the hypnotherapist to help with complex problems such as jealousy, anger, lack of confidence, inability to form relationships, and phobias. These can be issues which need a deeper approach and may involve you in more intensive work over a longer period of time. The hypnotherapist at this Centre is very experienced in working intensively in order to get to the root of the problem. During your initial session with her you will work out what kind of treatment you will need and an approximate idea how long it will take.
Your First Session
On your first session the therapist will take a detailed history and put you into hypnosis. This will take approximately one hour and is vital a s preliminary step towards your treatment. Should the therapist believe that an alternative therapy would be more suitable you will be referred within the centre where possible.
Comfortable clothing should be worn to assist you in relaxing either in the chair or on the couch. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
