Exercises for the Neck

These exercises are beneficial for neck-related issues and pain.

To avoid injury, remember to drink lots of water when exercising and leave enough of room around you.

If you’re new to exercising, it’s a good idea to start slowly and gradually increase your intensity.

Head tilt (side-to-side)

To help you balance, it’s better if you sit down for this workout. Tilt your head down towards your shoulder, with your ear leading the way. Hold a gentle tensing of your neck muscles for five seconds. Return to the centre of your head and repeat on the opposite side. On each side, repeat five times.

Head turn

To help you balance, it’s preferable to complete this exercise while sitting. Turn your head to one side while maintaining the same chin height. Hold a gentle tensing of your neck muscles for five seconds. Return to the centre of your head and repeat on the opposite side. On each side, repeat five times.

If doing this while standing or sitting is too uncomfortable, try it while lying down with your head supported.

Chin to chest

Chin to chest

Maintain good posture while sitting or standing. If you’re having problems balancing, it’s advisable to take a seat. Slowly lower your head until your chin rests on your chest. Hold a gentle tensing of your neck muscles for five seconds. Rep five times more.
